Service for Darrel Wayne Maggard will be 2:00p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Chelsea Funeral Home, burial will follow at Dawes Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 9 from 1pm--8pm, family will receive visitors from 6pm--8pm. Darrel went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 6, 2017. He was 80.
Born November 3, 1936 in Chelsea to Clarence and Fern (Minson) Maggard, Darrel attended school at Chelsea. Following his education, he worked at several jobs before he moved to Bartlesville and began driving a truck. In the early 1970's he married Maxine Payton, and to this union a daughter, Shelly, was born. Darrel retired from managing oil fields.
His hobbies included fishing and taking care of his property, which looked like a park. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Those family members that survive include his daughter Shelly Renee Maggard and husband Mike Wooten of Vinita; his grandchildren Whitney Wooten, Evan Wooten, Isabella Wooten and Landon Wooten; his sisters Patsy Meyer and husband Bill of Big Cabin, and Mary Johnson of Chetopa, and his brother James Maggard, also of Vinita.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Fern Maggard, Maxine Payton, and nephew Tracy Meyer.
