Memorial service for Dr. Lacy "David" Green will be 2 p.m., Tues., March 24, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joanne Green officiating. Burial with military honors by the VFW 5th District Rifle Squad will follow at Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 1-6 p.m., and the family will greet friends 4-6 p.m.
David passed away Tues., March 17, 2015, at his home at the age of 69.
The son of Daniel Hamilton Green and Edna Gertrude (Sims) Green was born Oct. 10, 1945, in Lincoln, AR. Around the age of 4, the family moved to Claremore where David grew up and attended school. David attended the Oklahoma Military Academy and was a member of the Saber Society and Alpha Gam K. While attending the Oklahoma Military Academy David played in a band called, "David Green & The Gents". During one of the OMA reunions he enjoyed playing with his band, Group Therapy. In 1975, David graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. He then opened a practice in Pryor, and in 1979 joined the U.S. Army Medical Service Corporation. He served active duty until 1982, when he went into the reserves and continued to serve until retirement. David later opened a practice in Muskogee where he remained until he closed. He was a member of the American Podiatric Association, American Association of Podiatric and Surgeons, Oklahoma Podiatric Medical Association, Fellow American Wound Care Association; and served on the Board of Governor's Rosyln Franklin University of Medicine & Science in Chicago. David had a wonderful heart and loved helping people. He had many patients that never paid him, but instead left with money in their pockets to get their medicine.
He is preceded in death by his children: Nicholas Green, Jesse David Swearingen Green, Baby Boy Green, and Anne Marie Green; his parents; sisters: Lola Ross and Verna Little; and brothers: Ira Green and Howard Balcom.
David is survived by daughters: Samantha Shannon Dyer and husband, Steven of Tulsa, and Rebecca Joanne Green of Vietnam; nephew that was like a son, Dr. Wayne Green and wife, Mandy of Claremore; brothers: Lonnie Gerald Green, and Junior D. Green both of Claremore; sisters: Ann Gwartney of Claremore; grandchildren: Kevin David Kost, Cherokee Heather Marie Ross, and Nicholas Sebastian Ross; and great-grandchildren: Kayanna Huckeby, Mattie Lynn Kost, Daneka Kost, and Ray-Ray Rosson.
