David Edward Isaacs

Dave Isaacs, 75, Isaacs Custom Homes president, and past president of Rogers County Homebuilders Association, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 in Tulsa.
A prayer vigil will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service Chapel, following visitation from 4-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, Carol; sons, David Jr. and Matt and his wife, Heather, Claremore; daughter, Kathy Trout and her husband, Kevin, Edmond; and four grandchildren, Addison and Luke Trout, and Eleanor and Caliger Isaacs.
Born Jan. 8, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas, David E. Isaacs Sr., was the son William Quincy and Beatrice Lorraine Reed Isaacs. They moved to the Claremore area when he was a child and later to Reed land in the Sequoyah area. He attended Sequoyah Schools and played basketball. He graduated from Claremore High School in 1956.
His father had a trucking business and Dave remembered him furnishing a flatbed truck for Bob Hope, when he came to Claremore in 1947 for Will Rogers Days.
Dave attended Okmulgee Tech, where he earned an associates degree in industrial electronics, which took him to California for work as a draftsman. He also earned an associates degree from Oklahoma Military Academy. He did a tour with the Navy and joined Xerox, which took him to Texas.
He returned to Claremore to wed Carol Burkhard on July 22, 1967 in Christ the King Catholic Church on Patti Page Blvd. He moved her to Texas with the promise they could someday return to Claremore.
Dave had been involved in various business enterprises before the early 1980s, when he found his niche in real estate and development of investment property; and then homebuilding in the Arlington-Fort Worth area.
They had three children and found living in Arlington, Texas, a good place to raise a family and made frequent trips to visit family in Claremore. He had been in the building business almost three decades when he was diagnosed with lymphoma.
It was about this time that he assisted his nephew, Mick Webber, in building a new home in Claremore. In 2001, when his cancer was in remission, Dave and Carol made the decision to return to Claremore, where he would build on a limited schedule. The first was in Bon Terre on Blue Starr the rest is history.
He built only custom homes, saying each “was built to reflect the lifestyle and personality of the owner; and the quality and craftsmanship of a Dave Isaacs built home.”
The company, now under leadership of David Jr., built 10 of the homes in The Meadows at Heritage Hills, with one under construction. He also built in other areas including Tulsa, Owasso and the Grand Lake area.
