Service for David Otis Maggard English was 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Chelsea. Burial followed at Dawes Cemetery, under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
David passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017. He was 34.
Born August 27. 1982, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to David Joe and Debra Ann (Maggard) English, David attended school in Chelsea, where he loved showing off his voice in show choir, as well as many talent shows He graduated with the class of 2001. While in school, he attended vo-tech and learned the trade of a machinist. This trade quickly landed him work following his graduation. However, David had always talked about joining the Army. He was in talks with them two weeks before 9-11. Then after the attack, he quickly made his decision. He enlisted and proudly served his country with three tours, including Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait, earning many commendations along the way. On August 4, 2002, he married Tammy Massey in Chelsea. They made their home in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
David's hobbies were bowling, camping and playing music. He also enjoyed imitating many folks. Cartoon characters were his specialty.
Those family members that survived include his son, Ashton Michael English; his parents, David English and Debra Bassett; his siblings, Josh Maggard and wife Kelly, Jaycie Hayes, Heather Bassett, Sunnie Wise, and Ashley Campbell; his aunts and uncles, Steve English and wife Rosanne, Mike Maggard and wife Rhonda, Randy Maggard and wife Sherry, Monte Maggard and wife Johanna, and Joy Morris and husband Mike; his nieces and nephews, Dakota Maggard, Zoey Hayes, and Sophie Hayes, and many cousins and friends.
