A memorial service celebrating the life of David Wayne Ramthun will be held at 11:00a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 220 North Seminole, Avenue, Claremore, OK 74017.  There will be a visitation starting at 10:00a.m., until the hour of service.  Reverend Ryan Honeycutt will officiate.

Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life immortal to light through the Gospel.  Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant David Wayne Ramthun.  David was born on November 24, 1960, to Karryl (Steinhoff) Ramthun and Robert Ramthun, in Milwaukee, WI.  He passed away peacefully at home in Claremore, OK on February 14, 2024.

He enjoyed hunting, cheering for his Green Bay Packers and was a master of the Weber grill, delighting in cooking for others.  He enjoyed being surrounded by the dogs and cats at home, and they loved him.  A 1979 graduate of East High School in Madison, WI, David worked for many years as a lithographer, and most recently was employed at Spirit AeroSystems in Tulsa, where he made many friends.   He was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Claremore.

David was a long time member of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps as a lead baritone and soloist.  He is remembered well by a circle of brothers who have honored him beautifully with words and song.  He was not only musically and artistically gifted, but he was also a mentor to the younger members of the corps.  David would be humbled to know the tremendous amount of love, respect and esteem the "Men of Madison" held in their hearts for him.

He met his future wife, Roma, on a field in Port Huron, MI, on July 4, 1981.  As he walked past, noticing her camera, his first words to her were, "Take any good snapshots?"  Completely smitten, she followed him and the Madison Scouts all over the Midwest that summer, even moving to Wisconsin from Ohio to be near him.  They were a couple for a few years, and though they broke up, they remained friends.  Twenty years later, after Roma became a widow and David was divorced, they found each other again, and rekindled their romance.  In their mid-forties, they became parents for the first time, welcoming David Robert Ramthun in 2007.

He is missed by his family and friends, but we will "Will Never Walk Alone," always carrying him in our hearts, until we see David and our Savior Jesus in Heaven.

He is survived by his wife, Roma Rose Ramthun, and son, David Robert Ramthun, his mother Karryl Carlin of Randolph, WI; sisters Kathleen Davis (Tom Derse) of Sun Prairie, WI, Linda Moore also of Randolph, WI; brother, Mark (Luci) Ramthun of Dodgeville, WI; step-siblings, Patrick (Christina) Carlin, Michael Carlin (Lisa Lord), Shannon Zitlow (John Sanderson), and Christopher Carlin (Jackie Masta); nephews, Clayton Davis, Carson (Amanda) Davis, Aaron and Noah Ramthun; great-nephew, Cole Davis, great-niece, Charlee Davis; step-nephew, Joshua Carlin, and step-nieces, Hannah Carlin and Sophia Zillow.

David was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ramthun, and his stepfather, Eugene Carlin as well as his grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted to an education fund for his son.  David Robert Ramthun.  Details to come.
