Funeral service for Dian Southworth Wadley will be 10 a.m., Thurs., Aug. 18, 2011, at Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. David Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at the Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of the Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory Wed. 8-10 a.m., and Chelsea Funeral Home Wed. 1-8 p.m. Family will greet friends 5-7 p.m.
Dian died Sat., Aug. 13, 2011, at home at the age of 76.
The daughter of H. Stuart and Katherine Ida (Burris) Milam was born April 19, 1935, in Tulsa. Dian grew up in Chelsea, graduating from Chelsea High School in 1953. Dian earned an associate of arts degree in psychology and attended SOCJC, Claremore Community College, and the University of Oklahoma. Dian retired from Eastern State Hospital in Vinita, where she worked in occupational therapy and was coordinator of the work therapy program. She was married to former State Senator Robert L. Wadley. She enjoyed playing bridge, researching geneaology, traveling with her husband, reading historical fiction, and browsing through "old book" stores and antique shops. She also loved spending time at her cabin at the Claremore Outing Club. Dian was a member and held the offices in numerous clubs including: Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, United States Daughters of 1812, Claremore Indian Women's Pocahontas Club, Ohoyahoma, American Legion Auxilary, and Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Fraternity.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; and her parents.
She is survived by her children: Michael Workman of Ketchum, Katee Dougherty and husband, Jim of Spring, TX, and Todd Workman and wife, Cathy of White Oak; her children's father, Tom Workman and wife, Pat of Vinita; step-children, Cheryl Daniel and husband, Curt of Claremore, and Bobby L. Wadley, Jr. and wife, Jane of Port O'Conner, TX; siblings: William Guinn Milam and wife, Pam of Cupertino, CA, John Milam and wife, Sue of Chelsea, and Phyllis Ramsey and husband, David of Aurora, CO; 14 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund, or the Chelsea Cemetery.
