Funeral service for Diann Williams Goad will be 1:30 p.m., Thurs., Dec. 23, at First Baptist Church of Chelsea with Rev. David Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m. and Thurs. 9-11 a.m.
Diann died Sat., Dec. 18, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 74.
The daughter of Wade Williams and Lucille Owens Williams Neihouse was born Sept. 25, 1936, in Raytown, MO. Diann met Arthur Yahola Goad while attending school at NEO in Miami, OK, where she was a Norse Star and he was a football and baseball player. On June 23, 1956, they were married in Missouri. Diann and Art moved to Tahlequah to finish Art's degree. They then moved to Watts where he coached football. They moved to Chelsea in 1965. Throughout their marriage Diann was always Art's biggest fan and cheerleader. Diann was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She worked for the Chelsea School system as a secretary for 13 years, then worked for Neece Steel and SmithCo for 8 years and finally retired from Steel Service in Claremore after working there for 18 years as an inside sales rep. She enjoyed caring for her family, reading, and football especially OU football.
Diann is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Art of the home; sons: Robert "Bobby" Goad of Chelsea, and Timothy Owen Goad and wife, Robin of Medford, NJ; daughters: Andrea Lee Goad-Smelser and husband, David of Oklahoma City, and Tammy Lou Ann Boatman and husband, Gary of Edmond; brother, Robert Bruce Williams and wife, Carol of DeSoto, TX; and grandchildren: Skylar Yahola Boatman, Taylor Lauren Boatman, Keaton Arthur Goad, and Payton MacKenzie Goad.
