Funeral service for Dona Rose Flanagan will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Burial will follow at the Senora Cemetery near Henryetta.
Dona went home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2018, at the age of 20.
The daughter of Ellis and Bertha Mae Goman Flanagan was born on October 6, 1997, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The early part of her childhood was spent in Henryetta. In 2013, at the age of 16, Dona and her family moved to their current home in Claremore.
Throughout her life Dona has been a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was an active member at the Henryetta Ward, and currently the Claremore Ward.
Dona was also an overachiever. Throughout her life she continued to defy all the odds that were stacked against her. She was a huge spirit trapped in a small body. Doctors told her she would never walk, and she did. She was able to take classes and graduated from Insight High School just last year. Her family describes her as a fighter to the very end.
In her spare time, she had many hobbies. She loved to read. Percy Jackson and Jane Eyre were a couple of her favorites. She also enjoyed dancing, knitting, and crocheting.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Dowell Flanagan, Bertha Goman, and Robert Goman.
Survivors include her parents, Ellis and Bertha "Mae" Flanagan of Claremore; sister, Brandy and Caelyn Gish of Glen Bernie, Maryland; grandmother, Wanda Flanagan of Norwalk, California; 11 aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins and extended family.
