Funeral service for Donny Bill Scott will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, (16912 E. 480 Rd., Claremore). Pastors Phil Tallman and Steve Hanchett will officiate. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Army will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore under the direction of the MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Donny Bill Scott passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at his home in Claremore at the age of 80.
The son of Vela and James Elford Scott was born September 24, 1933 in Idabelle, Oklahoma. He was a 1952 graduated from Checotah High School. After graduation he worked on road construction until being drafted into the United States Army. He served his country from 1956 until his discharge in 1958. On October 25, 1956 he married Nancy Grant. Donny worked for the Danuser-Heston Coorporation for 28 years until the plant closed. He then worked the next 12 years for Centerlift before retiring in 1992. In his retirement, he enjoyed raising Beefmaster cattle, fishing, hunting, camping, and visiting with friends, neighbors and family. Donny never met a stranger and always had a story to tell.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Elford and Vela Scott, and brother, Leon Scott.
Survivors include his wife Nancy of the home; sons, David Scott and wife Maralene, Darrill Scott and wife Theresa, and Don Scott and wife Mitzi all of Claremore; grandchildren Brad Scott and wife Meredith, Kara Favors and husband Ryan, Kyle Johnson, C.J. Scott and fiancée, Jordon, Colton Scott and wife Audra, Conner Scott and Chad Conder; great-grandchildren, Dolton and Kennedi Scott; sister, Mary Jacobs and husband Will of Tulsa; and many nieces and nephews.
