Doris Jeanette (Foutz) Cravens, born on October 18, 1972, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away in the early morning of October 30, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 52 years old.
Doris was the beloved daughter of Sherry and Rudy Foutz. She grew up in Catoosa, Oklahoma, where she attended Catoosa High School. She went on to earn degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Oklahoma State University as well as a Masters degree in Organizational Management. Doris married Chris Cravens, originally from Longview, Texas, and together they built a loving home in Collinsville, Oklahoma, with their two children, Reagan and Coleman.
Doris had a fulfilling career that began with the Disney Stores, where she worked in Florida, Texas, and Tulsa. Her passion for her Cherokee heritage led her to a significant role with Cherokee Nation Businesses and Cherokee Federal, where she was recognized with the prestigious 2024 Cherokee Standard Award for her contributions.
She is survived by her husband, Christopher James Cravens and son Coleman Wells Cravens of the home, daughter Reagan Elizabeth Cravens of Tulsa, her mother, Sherrill Jean Foutz, of Tulsa; and her sister, Tina Lynette Foutz of Oologah, Oklahoma. Doris also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Doris was preceded in death by her father, Rudolph Lester Foutz; her grandparents, Richard Lewis and Doris Francille (Russell) Guilfoyle, and John Wesley Foutz and Patti Nadine (Wells) Foutz; two aunts, L. Joan McClure and Sandra K. Phelps; and three uncles, John R. Foutz, Kenneth E. Foutz, and John W. Foutz.
Doris’s life was rich with interests and hobbies. She enjoyed traveling, game nights, playing cards, and attending restaurants, movies, concerts, and shows at the performing arts center. Her backyard oasis and pool, built with the support of her family and friends, were sources of great joy and relaxation. Doris’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and resilience. She touched the lives of many with her kindness, strength, and unwavering support for her loved ones. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
