Doris J McCamish

Funeral service for Doris McCamish will be on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 10:00am at Sageeyah Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22, at MMS - Payne Funeral Home from 1:00pm-8:00pm. Family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Doris passed away on May 27, 2023, she was 73.

Doris was born on September 7th, 1949 in Stigler, Oklahoma to John and Iva (Largent)  Medlock. Doris grew up in a farmer's home and knew from a early age the meaning of hard work. During her childhood her family raised cattle, picked cotton even would pick up and travel to Stillwell where her mom would clean up an old abandoned house for them to live while her dad and brothers would pick strawberries for a living. One that was never idle. Doris had many hobbies throughout life. She loved people and enjoyed many trips to Walmart and oh how she loved her Starbucks Coffee. Doris loved to be outdoors fishing, planning flowers, feeding the birds, watching squirrels or just sitting on the front porch in her rocking chair with Charles. Some of her favorite times were spent celebrating Christmas with her family and anytime spent with her children or grandchildren was a blessing to Doris. During her career at the water department many people would stop by just to sit and chat Doris. She was never one to meet a stranger. Doris had an infectious laugh that could fill a room, especially if she was with her sister in law Sharon they would raise the roof. Doris was well loved anywhere she went and even in her time at the nursing home the staff so enjoyed watching her dance around, always happy. Doris will be missed by all that new and loved her.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents her husband, Charles, three brothers and two sisters.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Sandra Emery and husband William, and Peggy McCamish; grandchildren, William Emery Jr. and wife Jasmine, Cody Emery and wife Tegan, Shiloh Galvan wife Rachel, Elena Ellis and husband Jayson, and Austin Ellis; great-grandchild, Bella Ellis; brother, Jim Medlock and wife Sharon; sister, Shirley Pate and husband Roger.
