Doris Margaret Payne

Funeral service for Doris Margaret Payne will be 2 p.m., Fri., July 30, at Friendly Foyil Baptist Church with Rev. Cindy Robertson and Rev. Michael Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Ward's Grove Cemetery under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.

Doris died Tues., July 27, 2010, at St. John Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 87.

The daughter of Isaac Newton and Lottie Pearl (Fields) Ward was born July 13, 1923, in Barnsdall, OK. Doris grew up in Foyil, graduating from Foyil High School. On Aug. 27, 1942, Doris married Charles Payne in Claremore. She enjoyed gardening, birds, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles; brother, Noel Ward; and sisters: Meriam Linn and Lorene Henderson.

She is survived by her sons: Gerry Payne and wife, Shirley, and Charlie Payne and wife, Betty of Claremore; daughter, Kim Sala and husband, Don of Tulsa; sister, Lucy Hefner of Chelsea; grandchildren: Shannon Payne, Shawn Payne, Ryan Payne and wife, Brandi, and Matt Payne and wife, Sarah; step-grandchildren: Chris Baldridge and husband Clark, , Steve Dowty and wife, Sara, Michael Sala and wife, Kendra, and Matthew Sala; great-grandchildren: Annie Kate, Alivia Ryan, Kayleb, Haley, and Tanner; 8 step-great-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-great-grandchildren.
