Dorothea Bernadina Martin

Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothea Bernadina Martin will be 11 a.m., Mon., Jan. 5, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Father Paul Eichhoff officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Haskell Cemetery under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 1-6 p.m., and family will greet friends 2-4 p.m. A rosary service will be held at the funeral home Sun. at 4 p.m.

Dorothea passed away Wed., Dec. 31, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City, at the age of 84.

The daughter of John Joseph and Alma Katheryn (Peters) Greuel was born May 25, 1930, in Littlefield, TX. She grew up and attended school in Muskogee. She continued her education with three years of nursing training. She worked as a registered nurse in Muskogee and Claremore for over 47 years. Dorothea was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, N.C.C.W., A.A.R.P., and Sassy Seniors. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and St. Cecilia Alter Society; and enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, sewing, and crafts.

Dorothea was preceded in death by her husband, Arjorie Francis Martin in 1991; her parents; two brothers, a sister, a granddaughter, and a great-grandson .

She is survived by her children: Anthony Martin and wife, Carolyn of Henryetta, Theresa Darnell and husband, Ray of Claremore, and Vincent Martin and wife, Angie of Yukon; step-daughter, Beverly McLemore and husband, Charles of Muskogee; sister, Anna Jackson of Webbers Falls; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
