Dorothy Irene Palmer

July 16, 1927 — August 26, 2012

Graveside service for Dorothy Irene Palmer will be 11 a.m., Wed., Aug. 29, at Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Inola Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-7 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-7 p.m.

Dorothy died Sun., Aug. 26, 2012, at Inola Health Care Center at the age of 85.

The daughter of Leonard and Clessie McBroom Sawtelle was born July 16, 1927 in Gotebo, Oklahoma. As a young girl she attended Gotebo schools. She later moved to El Reno, Oklahoma. It was there while working as a local soda jerk that she met Jackson Palmer. They were married September 18, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas. Her husband worked for Douglas Aircraft, and in a few years they found there way to the Tulsa area. In 1975 they moved to Inola. She found herself very active in all of her daughters activities from Camp Fire to Band Booster's. In her spare time she loved to sew, and travel; especially to Branson.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Clessie McEntire and step-father, Frank McEntire; husband Jackson Palmer and brother Harvey Sawtelle.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathi Higgins and fiance James Kilpatrick of Inola, grandsons, Cameron Higgins and wife Kristina, and Tanner Higgins, and great grandchildren Camdyn Higgins.
