Dorothy May Thompson

Funeral service for Dorothy May Thompson will be 1:00pm Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Inola Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 1:00pm-6:00pm Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the funeral home. Family will receive visitors from 3:00pm-6:00pm. Dorothy passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the age of 97.

Dorothy was born on February 11, 1926 to Bert and Emma McKinney in Ames, OK. Dorothy moved to Inola where she attended school and graduated with the class of 1944. After high school, Dorothy would marry and raise her children in Inola. Dorothy loved spending time outside and enjoyed feeling the wind blow. She enjoyed her time in the garden where she could grow just about anything. Dorothy had a full garden until just 3 years ago. Dorothy also loved to quilt and crochet. Dorothy loved westerns, and would watch them nearly all day in her chair. Dorothy will be missed by every one who knew her, especially her family.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, W.O. Thompson; son, Richard; brothers, Donald McKinney and Jimmy McKinney and sister Betty Mell. 

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Diane Walden and husband Norman; son, Dan Butler and wife Hyon; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
