Memorial service for Douglas "Doug" Wayne Sorensen will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Sequoyah Baptist Church. Doug passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019. He was 57.
Born October 3, 1962 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Richard Wayne and Patricia Sue (Thompson) Sorensen, Doug attended school at Sequoyah and graduated with the class of 1980. Following his schooling, he began working for Tulsa Produce, loading trucks for delivery. He was a faithful employee for 20 years. Doug decided to go into business for himself and he began a yard service. He also provided many folks with wood for heating during the winter. This last year, he delivered over 100 ricks of wood.
Doug was an avid sports fan and loved cheering his Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals to victory. He enjoyed fishing and talking on his CB radio. His biggest joy was his family and he loved spending time with them. Another recipient of his love and kindness was his church family. He was very involved with maintenance of the building and visiting the people that were sick or could not attend. Doug was always there to help when he was needed, giving the shirt off his back if it helped.
Those family members that survive include his son Aaron Sorensen and his mother Patricia Sorensen, both of Claremore; his sisters Tina Taylor and husband John of Jefferson City, Missouri and Terri White and husband Randy also of Claremore; and his nephews Joe and Daniel Cassmeyer, and Tyler Morse. Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father Richard Sorensen and his aunt Benna James.
