Dwight Rumsey passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017. The son of Dwight Rumsey, DDS and Lorene Rumsey of Sperry, Dwight graduated from Oklahoma Military Academy in 1959. He went on to graduate from Northeastern State University in 1964. His first post-graduate position was with Hominy Public Schools for one year, and on to Catoosa Public Schools, where he taught science and coached for 12 years. In 1977, Dwight began building homes in the Claremore area, where he was also an active member of the Home Builders Association. In 1985 he began working at Nupar, where he retired as Plant Manager in 2002.
Throughout the years, Dwight served his community in many roles, including Boy Scout Leader, Little League Coach, and Claremore City Councilman.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Preston Park Rumsey.
He is survived by his wife Carol Prideaux Rumsey, sons: Robert and wife Cheri of VanBuren, Arkansas, David and wife Keli of Verdigris, Doug of Claremore, and Danny and wife Stacie of Claremore; daughters: Sara Moss and husband Donnie of Claremore, Shelly Suggs and husband Hughie of Fayetteville, North Carolina; sister, Patricia Smith and husband George of Sperry; Grandchildren: Micheal Melton, Sam Rumsey, Noah Rumsey, Brittani Bean, Davey Rumsey and wife Cassie, Dylan Rumsey, Delaney Rumsey, Ryan Rumsey and wife Shay, Zac Rumsey, Kacee Rumsey, Kenzie Rumsey, Kaitlyn Rumsey, Cassidy Rumsey, Lucas Rumsey, and Reese Rumsey, Catie Grace Suggs, Josie Mae Suggs, Paige Moss, Presley Moss, and Emma Moss; Great- Grandchildren: Jaydin Bean, Harper Rumsey, Emerson Rumsey, and Josiah Rumsey, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
