Eddie Joe Wilson

Funeral services for Eddie Joe Wilson will be 11 a.m. Wed., Dec. 26, at First Baptist Church of Inola with Rev. Blake Gideon officiating. Graveside service with military honors by the U.S. Air force will be 2 p.m., Wed., at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of the Inola Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sat. 1-6 p.m. and family will greet friends 4-6 p.m.

Joe passed away Wed., Dec. 19, 2012, at his home at the age of 73.

The son of Charlie Roads Wilson and Pauline Elisabeth (Thurman) Wilson was born March 9, 1939, in Tulsa. Joe graduated from Central High School in 1957. At the age of 17, he joined the Air National Guard. He was called into active duty on Aug. 13, 1961, to serve during the Berlin Crisis. On June 23, 1961, Joe married LaDonna Mae Barkley at Berean Baptist Church in Tulsa. Joe began his career in 1958 with Moulder & Oldham, which later became Treat Solutions, where he was a top salesman, before retiring in 2009. Joe helped to start Southeast Freewill Baptist Church in Tulsa. Joe and LaDonna have made their home in Inola for the past 40 years where they are members of the First Baptist Church. Joe loved church, Sunday school, and Bible study. Joe enjoyed hunting, Nascar, and the OU Sooners. He also enjoyed traveling and camping with his family. They especially enjoyed camping in Branson, MO, where they were members of Treasure Lake Resort. Joe was a wonderful father, husband, and friend. His children and grandchildren were the love of his life.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Johnny Roads Wilson.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 51 years, LaDonna; children:
Elizabeth Ann Scott and husband, Brad, Rebecca Sue Gillikin and husband, Larry, and Mary Catherine Kyle and husband Jeff; grandchildren: Dillion James Scott, Shelby Spring Scott, Collin Mitchell Gillikin, Shanna Marie Kyle, Jackson Ted Kyle, Nathan "Joe" Kyle; sister, Carolyne Marie McKnight and husband, Wayne; sisters-in-law, Gayle Wilson and Eve O'Kelly; brother-in-law Tommy Barkley, and numerous other dear and loving family and friends.
