Edward Eugene Barbee passed away on July 7th, 2021 at St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 76.
The son of Cecil and Reba Madden Barbee was born November 13th, 1944in Hoyt, Oklahoma. Around the age of 7 Ed and his family moved Rogers county just outside of Catoosa. He would later attend Verdigris and Catoosa schools. In 1967 Ed was drafted into the United States Army. After being discharged, Ed returned home. He would begin working at Fram Filters. There he would first meet Barbara Griffith. They would begin dating and would marry on July 14, 1969. The newly wed couple made their home in Catoosa. Throughout the next several years Ed would work as a automobile mechanic. He worked for places such as Ernie Miller Pontiac, McNabb Coal, Riverside Chevrolet and Jim Glover Chevrolet from where he retired in 2003.
In his spare time Ed had many hobbies and pastimes he enjoyed. He loved being in the outdoors, especially when he had time to go fishing or metal detecting. He also loved traveling, a few of his favorite places were Branson and the mountains of Colorado. While relaxing at home you could find him watching the discovery channel or reading western novels or anything history related.
He is preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Reba Barbee; step-son, Clay Hill and siblings, Jimmy, Jerry Barbee and Joyce Barbee.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of the home, children, Edward Barbee Jr., Angela Vanderiet and Valorie McKay; grandchildren, Cody McKay, C.J. Hill, Tiffany McKay, Logan Vanderiet and Jacob Vanderiet; great-grandson, Kaden McKay; brother, David Barbee and many other nephews and nieces.
