Funeral service for Edward William Ross will be 2 p.m., Mon., Oct. 1, at Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Rev. Wayne Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Ward's Grove Cemetery, Foyil. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 1-6 p.m.
Edward died Wed., Sept. 26, 2012, at his home at the age of 88.
The son of Joe and Callie (Thomas) Ross was born October 23, 1923, in Stilwell. On June 27, 1941, Edward married Viola Brown. They lived around the Stilwell area for 10 years, and then moved to Verdigris in 1951. Edward worked at Verdigris School as a custodian and bus driver for 14 years. He moved his family to the Foyil area in 1966 where he built their home. Edward worked as a carpenter, and as a fitter for Abbott Heat Exchangers. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Edward helped his children build their houses and with any projects he could. He was always busy, and always had a project to complete. He was a member of Sequoyah Full Gospel Church.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Luther and Ewing Ross; sister, Lorene James; grandson, Rocky Ross; great-granddaughter, Reanna Folkner; and son-in-law, Don Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Viola of the home; children: Bob Ross and wife, Phyllis, Ron Ross and wife, Vickie, Faye Wilson, and Treta Williams all of Claremore; brothers: Jerry Ross of Stilwell, Lonnie Ross of Inola, and Cleburne Ross of Wagoner; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
