Celebration of life services for Elizabeth Ann Fugate will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 10:00am at Inola First Baptist Church.
Elizabeth Ann Fugate (usually known as Mema) passed from this life into Glory on July 30th, 2024. She was born on July, 20 1934 to Anderson and Mary Maxwell in Collinsville, Oklahoma. Growing up she worked for her dad at Rexall Drug Store. She graduated from Collinsville High School in 1952. Later, she married her sweetheart, Don Fugate. They were blessed with two sons, Don and Ronnie Fugate. Liz worked for Jones and Laughlin for 17 years and McKissick Products for 17 years in the accounting departments.
Liz was a long time member of FBC Inola where she spent many years teaching young children. She spent many hours visiting the kids in her Sunday School class at their homes and playing with them. She also made “Big Church” bags for kids who were graduating from preschool to the big church service.
Liz was an extraordinary Christian lady that believed in the power of prayer. She was always praying for her family, friends, and many others. She was kind, gentle, and humble, and had an amazing patience with young kids. She loved her family and friends, and it showed in the way that she listened and asked questions. She had a special way of making you feel like seeing you was the highlight of her day. She was always playing cards games with her grandchildren and great-grand children. She even got a little competitive and feisty with them in her older years. She enjoyed making cards with her great-grand kids for people who were unable to leave their homes. She continued making them up until a few weeks before she passed. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Liz is survived by her sons Don Jr. and wife Sandy, Ronnie and wife Kristy, bonus son Robert O’Dell and wife Bobbie; grandchildren: Rocky Fugate, Chad Fugate and wife Andi, Lindsey Thompson and husband Chad, Sara Stubblefield and husband Larry, Shelby McGarrah and husband Dalton, Josh O’Dell and wife Ashley, Lacie O’Dell, Annie Whinery and husband John, and Jessica Lee; great-grandchildren: Brock Fugate, Brooklyn Fugate, Ali, Annlee, and Tinley Thompson, Heston Fugate, Caroline Carrington, Murphey McGarrah, Easton Anderson, Maggie O’Dell, Kameron and Harper Whinery, Trevor and Evie Mora, Alecia Ringler, Tannie Jo Lee, and Eliza and Stella Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Don.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to FBC Inola’s preschool department.
