Elizabeth Louise “Betty” Powders, 86, of Claremore died Tuesday, May 8th, 2012 . She was born in Eugene, Oregon to Fred and Ruby Bloomer on September 5, 1925 and was welcomed into the home by a brother, Lawrence.
Betty spent her early years in Eugene and traveling in the summers with her family to her father’s worksites. During the summer of her senior year of high school while traveling in California she met Virdin C. Powders at a church dance. After graduating from high school Betty and Virdin were married.
Betty was a “mom” first and “Nannie” second although she did own and operate three convenience stores in Wagoner with her husband for a number of years.
Betty leaves to mourn her passing, her husband of 69 years, her daughters, Barbara Cole, Claremore, Ruby and Robert Ware, Malakoff, TX, Verda and Mike Bell, Sun City, Az and Roseana and Dwight Woodley, Tool, TX. She is also survived by her sister Susan Peters of Oregon, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren. Each one held a very special place in her heart; family was most important to her.
