Funeral service for Marie Reed will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2019 at Friendly Foyil Baptist Church, burial will follow at Ward's Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, August 18, from 1pm-6pm, with family receiving visitors from 4pm-6pm. Marie passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 14, 2019. She was 84.

Born in Marshall, Oklahoma to Lester and Elva Grace (Alexander) Taylor, Marie attended schools first in Bushyhead and finished at Chelsea. On November 7, 1953, she married Melvin Edward Reed and the couple made their home in the Foyil area and later Claremore.

Marie's first priority was her family and she made sure they were well taken care of. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and reading the Bible. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and teaching Sunday school classes. Marie and Melvin traveled each year to Colorado and California and saw many sites along the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Irene Francis, Violia LeBow, and Ada Space; her brothers James Taylor, Lloyd Taylor, and Alvin Taylor. Marie is survived by her husband Melvin of the home; her children Ronnie Reed of Foyil, Kelvin Reed of Locust Grove, Katherine Miller of Owasso, Vonda Woody of Claremore, and Dale Reed of Peggs; her brothers William Taylor of Chelsea and Gene Taylor of Locust Grove; 19 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and one on the way.
