Jean Kirkendall of Norman, OK passed away AT 8:45am, May 15, 2021 at her home (Norman, OK). Jean was a full blooded Eastern Delaware Tribal member (last 1 of 2) born in Dewey, OK on January 6, 1931 to James and Emma.
Wake services will be held in Claremore, OK at MMS Payne Funeral Home on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 6:00pm. Funeral services will be held at MMS Payne Funeral Home in Claremore, OK on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 10:00am. Meal to follow at Vessel Church (1301 W Country Club Rd, Claremore, OK) at 1pm.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Glen Kirkendall, three brothers, John, James Jr, and Marion "Cowboy" Jackson and three sisters Evelyn Thomas, Rosetta Coffey, and Elgia Bryan.
Jean is survived by one sister, Bette Notah, Lawrence, KS, a great nephew, Jarrett Jackson, of the Home, Norman, OK and a number of Nephews and Nieces across the country.
Aunt Jean and Uncle Glen, a WWII Multi-Tour Veteran, married shortly after Aunt's HS Graduation.Aunt Jean retired from McDonnel Douglas and returned back to her hometown, Dewey, OK. Throughout those years she traveled, was involved in the Lenni Lenape Community, and played Bingo to her heart's content. In 2012, Aunt Jean went to live with her Great Nephew who took her to Lawton, Claremore, and Norman, OK throughout their years of adventures together. Aunt Jean was one of the toughest ol Indian's the family has ever had in its history and she will be missed by many people across this Great Nation.
