Ernest Clinton Mayfield

Funeral service for Ernest Clinton Mayfield will be 10 a.m., Wed., Sept. 7, at Washington Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Lehman officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.

Ernest died Fri., Sept. 2, 2011, at his home at the age of 68.

The son of Clarence Ruben and Lucy Irene (Henshaw) Mayfield was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Weiner, AR. Ernest graduated from Weiner High School in 1960. On Oct. 6, 1962, he married Billie Ann Norris in Weiner, AR. Ernest served in the National Guard, was a Master Plumber with Sears (retiring in 2007), and he was a Deacon at Washington Baptist Church. He enjoyed genealogy, history, travel, arts and crafts, tinkering, and building. Ernest loved watching basketball and played on his high school team.

Ernest is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Ann in 2007; his parents; his brother, Francis Mayfield; and his sisters: Lillie Wright and Katherine Winters.

He is survived by his son, Ernie Mayfield, Jr. and wife, Holly of Chelsea; special friend, Juanita Keys of Claremore; nephews and nieces: Gino Winters and wife, Donna of Weiner, AR, Stevie Winters and wife, Angie of Weiner, AR, Cindy Dodd and husband, David of Weiner, AR, Roger Mayfield and wife, Lisa of Houston, MO, Charles Wright of Stuttgart, AR, Darlene Bailey of Maumelle, AR, and Susan Dempsey and husband, James of Cabot, AR.
