Funeral services for Essie Reaves will be 11:00a.m., Monday, October 26, 2015 at Bethel AME Church. Burial will follow at Lone Elm Cemetery under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25, from 1pm--6pm at the funeral home. Essie passed away at her home on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the age of 57.
Essie Mae (Green) Reaves was born April 22, 1958, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Johnny Green, Sr. and Ollie Mae (Hines) Ruth. She attended schools in several different communities before the family moved to Claremore in 1967. She finished her education in Claremore graduating with the class of 1977. Essie worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant for Med-Corp for many years before retiring. She loved cooking and playing bingo, but her family was most important to her and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ollie Mae Ruth and Johnny Green, Sr., her brothers Kelly Green and Johnny Green, Jr., her grandfather Floyd Grimett. Essie is survived by her sons Brennan Reaves and Trey Reaves; her grandsons Andrew Miller and Zavion Reaves; her sister Gwendolyn (Green) Johnson; her brother Curtis Green; her step sisters Rose Ridge and husband Mike, Jackie Buffington and Alberta Hardy; her grandmother Dorothy Grimett her niece LaTrenna (Green) Huey and her nephew John (Curkey) Grimett, niece-in-law Michelle NcNelly and a host of nephews, one great-niece and two great great-nieces.
