Etta Lea Corman

January 21, 1942 — October 23, 2013

Funeral service for Etta Lea Corman will be 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 28, at Sequoyah Full Gospel Church with Pastor Wayne Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Ward’s Grove Cemetery, Foyil, under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 1-6 p.m., and family will greet friends 4-6 p.m.

Etta passed away Wed., Oct. 23, 2013, at her home at the age of 71.

The daughter of Murl Eugene and Evelyn Mae (Bevard) Robinson was born Jan. 21, 1942, in Wagoner. She attended Catoosa schools. On July 20, 1957, she married Harold T. Corman in Bristow, and they made their home in the Dog Creek hills in 1962. Etta was a homemaker and worked as a cook and nurses aide in area nursing homes. As her grandchildren came along she started taking care of them instead of working outside the home. Etta was also known as Maw or Mom. She eventually adopted her grandson, Brian Lee. She also enjoyed watching rodeo barrel racing, and playing computer games. Etta was a lifelong member of the Pentecostal church and was very strong in her faith. She taught Sunday school, and preached through the years.
Etta was preceded in death by her son, Murl Ray Corman in 1975; her parents; and infant brothers, Earl Dean and Murl Eugene Robinson.

She is survived by her husband, Harold of the home; children: JoDean Shephard and husband, Joe of Bridge Creek, Herbert Corman and wife, Paula of Foyil, Margaret Kroeker of McCloud, and Brian Lee and girlfriend, Amy Kelley of Claremore; grandchildren: JoEtta Akins and husband, Brock of McCloud, Frankie Lou Stafford and husband, Jeremy of Wheatland, Wesley Bell of Oklahoma City, Brandy Rex and husband, Jerry of Strang, Jonathan Corman of Foyil, Nikki Corman of Foyil, Anna Corman of Foyil, and George Oliver; great-grandchildren: Hunter and Baylea Akins of McCloud, Kaleb Lowe, Kamden, Lane, and Ethan Stafford of Wheatland, Cheyenne and Paytenne Bell of Oklahoma City, Michael and Corrina of Strang, Lucinda of Foyil, Autumn and Stormy Kelley of Claremore, and Brianna Kelley of Claremore; and sisters, Ethel Fidler of Grove, and Marthy Autry of Catoosa.
