Etta Millspaugh, a devoted mother, dedicated employee, and cherished member of her community, passed away on July 7th after a brief illness, at the age of 88. She leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and a deep commitment to her family.
Etta was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was a proud graduate of Lowell Junior High and Central High School, Tulsa, Class of 1953. After spending years as a dedicated homemaker and stay-at-home mother, Etta entered the workforce and embarked on a career that exemplified her determination and work ethic. She held various jobs throughout her life, working diligently to support herself and provide for her loved ones.
One of the roles she found great joy in was working as a lunch lady at Sequoyah (Claremore) Public Schools. She loved being a part of the school community and had a special connection with the students. Etta also worked at Baker Hughes and Centrilift in Claremore before finding employment at American Airlines, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring.
Etta was married twice in her lifetime. Her first marriage was to Robert Russell, and they shared 24 years together. Later, she married Gordon Millspaugh, with whom she enjoyed 26 wonderful years. Etta and Gordon shared a passion for genealogy research, family, and travel. They found delight in playing country music together in their local area and relished the joys of fishing and lake life on Oologah Lake.
Etta loved the Lord and enjoyed working for the Lord in any place she could find. She was deeply devoted to Christ and had a personal relationship with him. She was heavily involved with First Baptist Church of Claremore. She sang in the choir, sponsored trips to Camp Disney and Falls Creek, served for years in the GA program and the hostess committee. Her health and that of her husband GW prevented involvement in recent years but she kept tabs on what was going on. She will be missed by all of her church family at FBC.
Etta's greatest source of happiness and contentment came from her children and family. She cherished their presence and found joy in their gatherings, especially when all members of the family were together with their loved ones. Her love for her children knew no bounds, and she poured her heart into ensuring their well-being and happiness.
Etta will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her unwavering commitment to her loved ones and her community, along with her love of music, travel, and family, will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
