Eugene McQueen was born on October 22, 1932, at Chappelow Ridge, Ind. to Robert and Laura (Hensley) McQueen. Gene was the youngest boy among the eight siblings.
He graduated from Harrison High in Harrison, OH, in 1950 and always had numerous jobs before being drafted into the Army to serve in Korea during the Korean War. He had met Dealeane (Dee) Duncan who was a schoolmate of his younger sister, Barbara – who introduced them. They corresponded during the war and when he returned, they were eventually married in June of 1956.
In April 1958, they had their only son, Clinton. In 1960 they moved to Tulsa, OK, where Gene went into the construction trade along with his brother-in-law, married to Dee’s sister, Jean. Being the industrious worker he always was, he eventually owned his own construction company aptly named the Gene McQueen Co., which specialized in corporate structure remodel and building supply division.
Gene and Dee eventually retired to Colorado, when he was 55, to their dream home outside of Durango where he stayed active with his toys, (backhoe, bulldozer, etc.), always helping a neighbor or friend whenever he could!
When Dee became ill, they moved back to Tulsa to be near her family. Gene always had to stay busy and he did various construction jobs for Victory Christian Center and played with his “toys” on his acreage outside of Verdigris.
Gene is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dee, his parents Robert and Laura McQueen, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by his sister, Barbara of Fairfield, OH; son, Clint (Christine) of Verdigris; granddaughter, Jackie of Tulsa, and grandson John (Elizabeth) of Dallas, and various nieces and nephews.
