Evert Hubert Dick was born February 18, 1930 in Colcord, OK, to Hubert Evans and Nellie Mae (Anderson) Dick. Evert was reared and educated near Jay, attending country schools. He completed his education at Jay High School. While in high school, Evert knew Bonnie Joan Griffin and later met in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the couple married on January 22, 1954. Following his military service to his country as a Marine, they moved to California. When the couple moved back to Oklahoma he began working at BS&B as a machinist in Tulsa. The couple moved to Kansas for a time before returning to Oklahoma where he began working for North American Aviation, later becoming Rockwell International. Evert retired when he was 55 after 26 years of faithful service.
Hobbies included anything that kept him outdoors. He planted a garden that was over an acre and canned most of its bounty. Evert enjoyed sharing the vegetables with anyone who wanted them, often times he would deliver free of charge. He loved his family and took care of them and made sure they needed nothing. His neighbors were also the recipients of his generosity through the years. Evert was most content spending time with his family, attending church and worshiping the Lord and taking care of his farm.
Those family members that survive include his wife, Bonnie Dick of their home in Inola; his daughter, Mary Evette Campbell and husband, Mike also of Inola; his grandchildren, Ryan Welch and wife, Amber of Inola and Kari Shank and husband, Nathan of India; great grandchildren Avery Welch, Jackson Welch, Emily Welch, Hannah Shank, Samuel Shank, Phoebe Shank, and Eli Shank; his brother, Jerry Dick and wife, Gracie of Jay; his sister, Ginger Weeks and husband Jim of Colcord. Evert was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Mae which died on June 6th, and his parents, and 6 siblings.
