Funeral service for Floy America “Flo” Gentry will be held 2 p.m., Thurs., March 25, at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens Chapel with Rev. Janelle Brammer officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m.
Flo died Mon., March 22, 2010, at Continuous Care Centers, Tulsa, at the age of 88.
The daughter of William Porter and Bessie Jane (Kemp) Smith was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Clinton, AR. She graduated from Gracemont High School, Gracemont, OK. On Sept. 2, 1942, Flo married Quentin Darrell Gentry in Yuma, AZ. They worked in and later owned Gentry Drug Store in Claremore. Flo enjoyed the Claremore Senior Citizens Center and bowling; and loved OU sports. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Elk’s Lodge.
Flo is preceded in death by her husband, Quentin; 2 infant sons; parents; and brothers: Glenn and Louis Smith.
She is survived by her second cousin, Bonnie Stimson and husband, Terry; nephews: Jan C. Gentry and wife, J.J., Michael Gentry and wife Nancy, and Skipper Largent; and niece, Marcia Geyman and husband, Jerry.
The family requests that donations in memory of Flo be directed to the Claremore Senior Citizens Center.
