Floyd Summers summited his final mountain on Oct 8th, 2023. Surrounded by his closest friends and family, he passed away at 71 years old. Floyd celebrated his 71st birthday on sept. 5th at his home in Claremore. Perfect attendance was the standard for his family as they never missed a holiday cookout, birthday, or general reason to celebrate time together.
It was more the merrier for Floyd, and served as a means to laugh and recount a lifelong set of tales and memories accumulated over his time on earth. Floyd lived large, and had an even bigger heart. He touched countless souls throughout his life and could never be out given. He had a unique taste for the wilderness of North America as he enjoyed countless hunting trips to the wind swept tundra of the Arctic circle and Canada for caribou, moose and bear. And never missed a deer season for Arkansas and Oklahoma. Many great memories were made by the fires of his hunting camps; and such adventures were the glue of his life.
Floyd never missed a sporting event for any of his kids, and loved his family beyond measure. He created a household name in the explosives industry, and celebrated his 50th year in business with Summers Drilling & Blasting at the turn of the year .
Floyd is preceded in death by son Jeremiah Summers, mother Grace Attebury, brothers John and Butchie, and sister Georgina.
Floyd is survived by wife Debbie Summers, kids Melissa Summers, Kaleb Summers, and Brooke & (Jared)Yost. Sister; Betty Couch, and many grand kids.
