Forrest Guinn

Funeral service for Charles Forrest Guinn will be 2 p.m., Thurs., May 29, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dave Mewbourne officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, Sperry.

Forrest passed away Mon., May 26, 2014, at Rolling Hills Care Center, Catoosa, at the age of 97.

The son of Don and Bessie Louise (Wallace) Guinn was born Nov. 4, 1916, in Oktaha, Oklahoma. On Oct. 6, 1937, Forrest married Myrtle Oletha Hollandsworth and they made their home in Sperry where they raised their three children. In the late 60’s they moved to Foyil. During World War II Forrest served in the U.S. Army. He worked for many years as an auto mechanic. He was also involved with law enforcement serving as a Rogers County Sheriff Deputy and as the Police Chief of Foyil. In his spare time Forrest enjoyed fishing and working on cars.

Forrest was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle in 1989; his parents; grandson, Larry Guinn; great-grandson, Hunter O’Dell; brothers: Wallace Guinn and Howard “Skeet” Guinn; and sisters: Elsie Schoonover, Inez Duncan, and Louise Kilgore.

He is survived by children: Jimmie F. Guinn and wife, Elveta of Adair, Judy R. Joeckel of Chelsea, and Jean A. O’Dell and husband, Don of Foyil; grandchildren: Sterling Guinn, Mark Holcomb, Jeena Culver, Leann O’Dell, and Bryan O’Dell; 16 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
