Francis Eugene Chapman was born on October 10, 1927, Gene was the second of the five children born to Virgil and Ruby (Young) Chapman. He lived a life dedicated to family, hard work, mischief, peace and joy.
Gene started his life's work at a very early age going to work with his father as a house painter. Painting was a skill he developed and enjoyed through his entire life. During his high school years, he and his father formed a small furniture business where he would paint used and unfinished furniture to sell. In 1977, Gene and his brother Don, formd Chapman furniture in Tulsa and operated there until his retirement.
He loved working outdoors and that became his favorite hobby. Not hunting, fishing or sports, he simpled enjoyed labors and outdoors. Gene also enjoyed helping others, often joining, without being asked, to help finished someones project.
Gene married Vickie Chapman and the couple had more than fifty years together. He was faithfully at her side especially in her last years of declining health.
He is preceded in death by hs wife Vicki, and brothers Marlon and Leroy. He leaves behind 3 adult children; son Steve and daughter in law Pam of Claremore; daughter Margo Chapman of Tulsa, and Melissa Lambert of Claremore. There are four grandsons Levi Chapman of California , Trey Lambert and fiancee Morgan Hughes of Claremore, Cole and Addy Lambert of Sand Springs , Austin Lambert and Fiancee Rayme Leonard of Owasso. He had one great grandson, Miles Chapman of California. Other surviving family include sister Joycelyn Woods of Georgia; brother Don Chapman of Tulsa, and sister in law Betty Chapman along with numerous nieces and nephews.
