Funeral service for Frank Best will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Friendly Foyil Baptist Church. Pastor Mike Clark will officiate. Burial will follow at Oowala Cemetery under the direction of the MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

Frank passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the age of 73.

Franklin Darrel Best, the son of Samuel and Mary Holcroft Best was born January 19, 1943 in Claremore, Oklahoma. As a child he was raised near Bushyhead, where he loved roaming the country side hunting and fishing. He attended Bushyhead schools, and later finished at Chelsea High School.

Upon finishing school Frank went to Hoxie, Kansas, there he began working the harvest with his brother Paul as he had for many summers before. However this time he decided to stay and start his welding career. After a few years in Hoxie, Frank decided to return home to Oklahoma. It was then that he met Patti Owens. They married and to this union a son Chad was born.

After living in Claremore for a couple of years Frank decided to move to Tulsa. There he met Gina Murdock. They married on June 23, 1990 in a Tulsa ceremony. The new couple then took a job working on the Candy Ranch in Nowata, where Frank helped run the day to day operations. For several years they lived and worked on the ranch. Eventually Frank and Gina built their new home in the country near Claremore.

Frank will be remembered in many ways by many people. He was known as the man who could fix or build anything. He was called upon many times by neighbors, family and friends to help solve problems. He was also the man who was very active with his sons in boy scouts and accompanied them on many camping trips on his land. However to his family, he was the loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, who will be greatly missed. After he retired, Frank and Gina traveled in their RV and worked at different campsites. They had several fun experiences and were able to see many parts of the world.

He is preceded in death by his parents

Survivors include his wife Gina; sons Chad Best and wife Chantil and Dustin Murdock; grandchildren Joshua Bryan Allen-Worrell and wife Emily, Ashlyn Marie Best and Brayden Travis Best; siblings Paul Best, Sam Best and wife Earlene, Roy Best, Ruby Best Lewis,Sue Best Foreman, Mary Best Miller and Naomi Best Lay and husband Mike.
