Freddie Ray Martin passed away on December 24, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on September 1, 1945, in Vinita, Oklahoma, to Charlie and Mary Jane Martin, Freddie spent his childhood traveling across the country as his family moved frequently.

Freddie attended many schools throughout his youth and later pursued higher education at Northeastern Oklahoma College in Miami, Oklahoma. Over the course of his life, Freddie had a wide variety of careers. He worked for Peabody Coal, did construction work, and eventually found his calling as a mechanic for the State of Oklahoma, where he dedicated the majority of his professional career.

One of Freddie’s greatest passions was vintage cars. He loved working on old cars, restoring them, and attending car shows and car meets. Whether he was under the hood of a classic car or showcasing his work at events, Freddie’s love for vintage automobiles was a cornerstone of his life.

In 1971, Freddie met the love of his life, Kathryn, and the two were married in April of 1972. They shared 52 wonderful years together, building a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Freddie is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Jane Martin; his sister, Ruby Garrett; his brother, Charles "Dub" Martin; and his daughter, Michelle Mesmer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn; his daughter, Tina Read, and husband Kevin; his son, Freddie Martin; his grandsons, B.J. McCarrell, Colton Read, and Austin Read; and his great-grandchildren, Guinevere Read and Maive Read.

Freddie will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who had a deep love for his family. His passion for classic cars and his dedication to his loved ones left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Freddie’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
