Funeral service for Frederick Charles Severance will be 1 p.m., Thurs., March 26, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Marine Corps will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens.
Known as "Fred" or "Rick" to his family and friends, he was born July 12, 1941, to Mary Jane and Frederick V. Severance in San Francisco, California. Fred graduated from high school in San Mateo, CA. Fred had joined the Marine Corps at age 17 and was proud of his service to his country. He served two tours in Vietnam. He was active in the American Legion until his health began to fail. Fred retired from Campbell Soup Company after 30 years of service, and later went to work for Bama Company.
Fred is survived by brother, Jerry Severance; niece, Lorraine Severance - James of California; nephew Anthony Severance of Austin Texas; and several great nieces and nephews. He also had long-time friends: Richard and Joanne Hess of Missouri, and Don and Naomi Chisam of Chelsea, Oklahoma.
Fred was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Karen Faye (Dayton) in 2006.
