Gary Walton passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011, in Glenville, West Virginia at the age of 62.
The son of John and Virginia Smith Walton was born February 2, 1949 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was raised on the family farm in rural Rogers county. In 1967 he graduated from Sequoyah High School. He decided to continue his education, and enrolled in the Oklahoma Military Academy. However just a short time later he joined the United States Airforce. While in the service he kept in constant contact with his girlfriend back in Tulsa. While on leave on April 16, 1971 he married Mary (Tita) Coates. For the next year they lived on the Altus Air Force Base. After his discharge in 1972 they moved to Broken Arrow. He began working for Ford Glass, where he retired after 30 years of service. In the mid 80's he and his family moved to the Claremore area. Settling on the family farm. Gary loved being on the farm, raising cattle and just being back in the outdoors. In his spare time he loved to hunt, fish, play cards, and dominoes and watch the Oklahoma Sooners. He also was active in the Washington Baptist Church, where he has served as the church treasurer for many years. He will be remembered as a man of few words, unless he was talking politics or playing cards. A man who loved his family, and who will be missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his father John Walton Sr; and brother John Walton, Jr.
