Memorial service for Gaylen Scott Leathers will be 2 p.m., Wed., May 2, at Epworth United Methodist Church, Chelsea, with Rev. Darrell Cox officiating.
Gaylen passed from this earth on Sat., April 28, 2012, at Legacy Health and Rehab in Ft. Smith, AR, at the age of 47.
The son of James Robert "Sonny" Leathers, Sr., and Priscilla D. (Chapman) Kamer was born Nov. 20, 1964, in Oklahoma City. He attended school in Neosho, MO, and Central High School in Sallisaw. Gaylen graduated from Central High School in 1982. His hobbies were bowling and bingo. He worked at Roland Cherokee Casino for eight years, Harvest Food in Ft. Smith for four years, and Peoples Industry in Sallisaw.
Gaylen is preceded in death by his mother, Priscilla D. Kamer; sister, Edith Morales; and brother, Randy Leathers.
He is survived by his father, Sonny Leathers; step-mother, Shirley Jameson; sister, Roberta Russell; brothers: James Leathers, Jr.; half-brother, Jerry David Meeks; step-sisters: Tina and Sandy, Debrah Sandhey, Janet Rudolph, and Melissa Beck; and step-brothers: Jackie Don Mayes and Bobby Long.
