Services for George Cornelison will be 2:00p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel; burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 24 from 1pm-8pm with family receiving visitors from 6pm-8pm.
George passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the age of 79.
George Dean Cornelison was born January 16, 1936 in Oklahoma City to Barney and Vivian (Huckaby) Cornelison. Following his graduation from Shidler High School in 1954, George enlisted in the US Army. When his services duties in the Army were finished, he returned to Oklahoma and attended college at Oklahoma State University. During this time he owned and operated a gas station. In 1962, George married Virginia Butts and this union was blessed with 2 sons. With a business degree in hand, George began working for International Harvester. On June 13, 1986 he married Delores "Carol" Pool. They together started Sooner Sales out of their home. In 1994 land was purchased in Catoosa, and their current offices were built. In his spare time George loved traveling, reading biography books, and watching westerns.
He is preceded in death by his parents Barney and Vivian; brother, Mike Cornelison, and sisters, Marita Watson, Imajean Stokes and Pete Butts.
Survivors include his wife Carol of the home; sons, Robert Cornelison and wife Ruth of Catoosa, Larrry Cornelison and wife Claudia of Tulsa, and Jeff Hefner of Claremore; grandchildren, April, James, and Josh Cornelison, Shelby Rains, and Hunter and Hailey Hefner; great-grandchildren, Breanna, Britlan, and Bryson, along with many other extended family.
