Inola

George Ray Danker, lovingly known as "Pie," passed away on October 12, 2023, in Tulsa. George was born on April 5, 1946, in Welston, Oklahoma. He lived a fulfilling life full of love, dedication, and meaningful accomplishments.

George's career journey began with his father in the road construction industry. Working side by side with his dad for several years allowed him to learn valuable skills and develop a strong work ethic. Later, he went to work for Aero Commander and transferred to Tulsa to work for McDonald Douglas.  This move landed the family in Inola in April 1966.  Later he worked in various roles, with his favorite being an independent owner/operator with Elsworth.   After twelve years in the trucking industry, he joined his son, Dale Danker, at American Airlines as an aircraft shop mechanic for sixteen years until he retired in 2013. George's dedication, work ethic, and expertise made him an invaluable member of the team.

Beyond his professional endeavors, George's true joy came from taking care of his grandchildren.  He spent the last ten years of his life after retirement focused on his wife, Sheral Danker, and his grandchildren.   He cherished every moment spent with them and was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. His selflessness and love for his family were evident in everything he did.

George was also a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church in Inola.  He and Sheral made this their home Church shortly after moving to Inola.  George would help build the building where his services will be held and where he watched each of his children and grandchildren be saved and Baptized.

George received his education from Wellston High School and graduated with the class of 1964. He received additional training as an aircraft machinist. This foundation, along with the experience gained working on a farm, provided him with the knowledge and skills to navigate through life successfully.

Known for his loving and caring nature, George touched the hearts of everyone he met. His warm personality brought comfort to those around him during both joyful and challenging times. Family was at the center of his world, and he always prioritized their well-being above all else.

In addition to being a dedicated family man, George had numerous hobbies and interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He delighted in watching his grandchildren participate in various activities and sporting events. Hunting with his sons Dale and Brian was another cherished pastime that allowed them to bond over shared experiences in nature. George also enjoyed working on projects with his sons and took pride in being able to help them build things. His green thumb led him to cultivate a beautiful garden while also finding solace in fishing. For leisurely entertainment, George could often be found shooting guns and cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder.

One of George's proudest accomplishments was being named Parent of the Year at Inola Public Schools. This recognition highlighted his commitment to being a loving and supportive grandparent, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of his children, grandchildren, and their peers.

George Ray Danker will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones.
