Funeral Mass for George Walter Dennison, Sr. is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 26th at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. with visitation on Wednesday, April 25th from 4 till 8 p.m., and family will greet friends from 6 - 8 p.m., at MMS-Payne Funeral Home. George Walter Dennison, Sr. passed away at his home in Claremore, Saturday, April 21, 2018. He was 78. Born October 10, 1939 in Claremore, to parents Charles Tannis Dennison and Marguerite H. Pease. George attended school in Turley and Central High School and spent time in the U.S. Air Force. When George was a young man he loved Drag Racing. He and his Brother-in-law, Frank Kendall raced a 40 Willis Coupe that was bright red. George drove the car and Frank was the Mechanic. In the mid 1960's George took the title with a run of 11.98 seconds and 109.57 miles per hour. Their car was called "Big Gas". Thier racing carrer's ended by George's wife Sondra and his sister Mary Bell, (Frank's wife). They had to choose racing or family life. George was proud of his Osage heritage. George worked for American Airlines for 16 years. In the early 1980 George began operating oil leases. He loved the oil business and knew everything there was to know about operating an oil lease. George was a family man and was proud of and loved his family. If anyone ever needed help, they knew they could always depend on George. He never cheated or lied to anyone in his life time. He will be greatly missed by his friends and especially his family. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke you listened.
Those left to to mourn his passing are his wife Denise Lakey Dennison of the home, sons; George Walter Dennison, Jr. and his wife Tracey of Claremore, Charlie Lawrence Dennison and his wife Patti of Claremore; daughters, Debi Lynn Dennison Cook and her husband Max of Claremore, Lettitia Rhea Carr and her husband Mark of of Tulsa, Dalvina Irene Sperling and her husband Bill of Sapulpa, Octavia Grace Branch and her husband Matt of Tulsa; sisters Charlene (Minnie) Ready of Cleveland, Sammie Bernice Dennison Harmon of Cleveland; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
