Gladys passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the age of 95.
Gladys Irene Terry was born September 9, 1921, near Krebs, Oklahoma. She was the eighth of eleven children born to Tom and Emma Eller Parker. As a young girl, she and her family moved to the Chelsea area, where she has spent the majority of her life. Her first home was east of Chelsea near the community of Greer. There she would attend Greer school. However, after a fire destroyed her family's home, they moved to the Oak Grove area. She then began attending Oak Grove school. Thanks to the move, she would meet the love of her life, Wilford Terry. They would marry on April 30, 1937. That marriage lasted a wonderful 76 years. They made their home in Chelsea and they had one son, Bill Terry.
Gladys was a life long member of First Assembly of God. Along with Wilford, this was their church home where they faithfully attended, and were actively involved. Gladys enjoyed gospel singing and sang in the church quartet. Her music was so important to her, that along with Wilford, she spent summer vacations at gospel singings all around the area.
Gladys worked for the Chelsea school system in the cafeteria, where she loved and fed many Chelsea area kids for nearly 20 years .
Gladys so dearly enjoyed "making garden" with her close friends Wanda and E.J. Snyder. She also enjoyed growing flowers and spending time with her family.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wilford Terry; son, Bill R. Terry, grandson, Stephen Terry, and she was the last surviving sibling of her family.
