Glen Dal Crane was born in Inola, Oklahoma, to Lawrence Elwood Crane, Sr. and Ida Olive (Ludlow) Crane. A proud native of Inola, Glen attended Inola schools and graduated with the Class of 1960. While in school, Glen excelled in basketball and even set a record for being one of the fastest typists in the school.
After graduation, Glen enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving most of his time stationed in Japan. Following his military service, Glen returned to his beloved hometown of Inola and embarked on a diverse and successful career. He worked at Trailer Convoy in Tulsa and Rogers County Abstract before joining American Airlines, where he dedicated over 35 years of service.
Glen had a wide range of hobbies and interests. He was an avid horticulturalist, nurturing everything from indoor plants to beautifully landscaped shrubs. His artistic side shone through his talents in sewing, calligraphy, and other creative pursuits. Traveling was one of his greatest passions, and over the years, Glen explored destinations such as Russia, East and West Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and countless locations across the United States. His adventures even inspired him to write a book, Oklahoma to Alaska, chronicling his and Bill Waters' journey from Inola to Alaska.
A devoted member of the Inola community, Glen actively participated in the Inola Alumni Association, assisted with the annual Hay Day Festival, and regularly hosted gatherings for the Class of 1960. His commitment to his hometown extended far beyond events; he was known for his generous and compassionate spirit, always seeking ways to help both people and animals.
One notable example of Glen’s kindness came in 2020 when he personally contributed money to every graduate’s diploma after COVID-19 disrupted the senior prom for the Inola High School graduating class. Glen also played a role in caring for "Ellie," the beloved Great Pyrenees known as the Inola town dog. Fascinated by her travels, Glen had her chipped so the entire town could follow her adventures on Facebook.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ida Crane; brothers, Tom, Sonny, and Mosey Crane; and sisters, Helen Warden, Cleo Stout, Delores Lee, Blanch Thurman, and Patricia Crane and special friend Bill Waters.
He is survived by his brother, Jim Crane, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
