The son of W.H. and Marguerite Davis Welsh was born August 12, 1930 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He lived in the Beggs area where he started elementary school. A few years later he and his family moved to Bixby. There he attended Bixby High School graduating in 1949. In December of 1950 he married his high school sweetheart Barbara Garlick at the Methodist Church in Bixby. Over the next few years Glenn continued his education and played football for Tulsa University, Bacone College and Northeastern State University. Upon graduation he began his first teaching and coaching job in Westville, Oklahoma. The next few years took him to a couple of different schools before landing in Claremore in 1966. His first job in Claremore was coaching football at the Oklahoma Military Academy. Then in the late 1960's as OMA began to move toward being a college, he took a job teaching and coaching at Claremore Public Schools. He coached high school football and was also the first wrestling coach. Later he gave up coaching and took the job as Junior High Principal which he did until retiring in 1987. After retirement he and Barbara got a motor home and began traveling. Staying in the Rio Grande Valley was one of their favorite destinations for the winter. Fishing was another of his passions. He enjoyed trout fishing, and making his own fishing rods. In the most recent years he planned his day around his granddaughters. All his errands had to be done early so he could pick them up from school. He was a longtime member of the Oklahoma Coaches Association and was a 32 degree mason.

He is preceded in death by his parents W.H. and Marguerite Welsh.
