Funeral service for Gordon Keith "Goldie" Golden will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with his son, Greg V. Golden, officiating. Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday 1-8 p.m.
Keith died Sun., Feb. 20, 2011, at his home at the age of 89.
The son of Gordon Mayfield and Arminta Cordelia (Hale) Golden was born Aug. 13, 1921, in Tulsa. Keith attended Pershing, Roosevelt, and Tulsa Central High School, graduating in 1939. He served in the Army Air Corp from Jan. 1942 through Oct. 1945 during World War II. He was a gunner on B-29's. Keith later went to work for American Airlines, retiring in 1981 after 34 years of service. On Oct. 24, 1943, he married Jackie Marie Pankey in Tulsa. They made their home in Claremore in 1958, and established the Golden 80 Ranch. Keith was a rancher and cattleman, and enjoyed raising Brangus cattle. He enjoyed working with his hands, and building things. He also loved brushhogging for anybody that needed it. Keith also enjoyed playing the guitar and piano. He taught himself to play by ear. Keith was a member of First United Methodist Church in Claremore. Keith and Jackie moved to Chelsea 13 years ago to be closer to their daughter.
Keith is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jackie of the home; daughter, Gloria Kay Jochmans and husband, Claude of Chelsea; son, Greg V. Golden of Phoenix, AZ; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and sister, Dorothy Ann Kisselberg and husband, Bill of Tulsa.
