A memorial service for Harley Lee Smith will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Chelsea.
Harley passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the age of 64.
Born on October 5, 1960, in Hulbert, Oklahoma, to Bobby and Alice (Wallis) Smith, Harley grew up in rural Chelsea, Oklahoma. He attended Chelsea High School, where he graduated with the class of 1978.
After high school, Harley began a lifelong career as a truck driver. He first worked for Carbide and later joined Rogers County District 1, where he worked until his retirement in 2014. However, Harley’s retirement didn't’t last long as he returned to his passion for driving, working for Customs Trucking in Vinita.
Outside of work, Harley enjoyed spending his time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and taking care of his animals. He was also known for his creative talent in making blankets through cross-stitching, and making bow and arrows, a skill he excelled at and took pride in.
Harley was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Alice Smith; his sons, James Williams and Daniel Webb; and his siblings, Susan James and Deborah Reed.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Brandy Whitham; his sister, Karen Jackson and husband Jeremy, and Gayle Smith; and his grandson, James Smith.
Harley will be remembered as a hardworking and caring man who loved his family, the outdoors, and the open road. His kindness and dedication to those he loved will leave a lasting legacy. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
