Funeral service for Harold Clinton DeLay will be 10 a.m., Fri., Aug. 13, at Church of the Nazarene with Rev. J.J. James officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Cemetery under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Harold died Mon., Aug. 9, 2010, at his home at the age of 79.
The son of Alvie Clinton and Gertrude (Newton) DeLay was born Feb. 3, 1931, in Claremore. Harold served in the U.S. Navy, and trained as an engineer. On Nov. 24, 1952, Harold married Tabitha McKinzie in Brimerton, WA. In 1954, they moved to Tulsa and Harold went to work at Rainbow Baking Company as a maintenance engineer; and became a member of the International Union Operating Engineers. In his spare time Harold enjoyed working on cars. When he was finished he sold the cars for only what he had put into them. Harold also enjoyed camping and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Harold is survived by his wife, Tabitha of the home; son, Ron DeLay and wife, Amanda of Claremore; daughter, Anita Ruggles and husband, Tracy of Catoosa; brother, Gerald DeLay and wife, Amber of Catoosa; sisters: Lawanda Twardowski of Azusa, CA, and Alene Sweet of Culver City, CA; grandchildren: Ben and Chris Ruggles, Rachel Ellis, Shannon Hogan, and Justin Porter; and 8 great-grandchildren.
