Funeral service for Harold Dean Gatrell will be held 3 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, at the Inola Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor T.J. Helling will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Dean passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the age of 79.
The son of Eldorus and Lorene Feaster Gatrell was born January 12, 1934 in Gentry, Arkansas. He was raised in Gentry, and helped his family run the farm. Dean joined the United States Marine Corps in 1953, during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return home, wanting something better for his parents and siblings, he bought them a home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. His working career however took him to Tulsa. There he began working for Cain's Coffee. While working that he met Norma Jean Hemmert the love of his life. They were married January 10, 1955 in Tulsa. Wanting to get his family out of the city of Tulsa, he and Norma purchased a home in Inola in 1968. Dean was a dedicated worker, and found that his work skill was in high demand. Over his lifetime Dean worked for companies such as American Airlines, North American, Nordam, Midwestern Life Insurance Company, owned his own construcation company and lastly retiring from Brooks Aeronautical. Away from work his pastime was cars, especially Fords. To his family he was the perfect husband father, and grandfather who will be missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his father, Eldorus Gatrell; wife, Norma Jean Gatrell and son-in-law, Glenn Moore.
Survivors include his children, Deana Moore of Claremore, Kevin Gatrell and wife, Rhonda of Collinsville, and Kim Marcotte and husband, Tim of Claremore; grandchildren, Nicole Moore Woods and husband, Michael, Garrett Moore, Drew Moore, Gavin Gatrell and wife, Lindsay, Ashley Gatrell Wilson and husband, Andrew, Brittany Byford and husband Braden, Keenin Marcotte and wife, Claire, Colton Marcotte, and Corbin Marcotte; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
