Funeral services for Hazel Margaret Batton will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, at the Chelsea Funeral Home Chapel, with viewing after 10:00 a.m. Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
She passed from this life at her home in Miami on February 24, 2012, at the age of 88. The daughter of Lee Charles and Gladys Mildred (Faulkner) Reavis was born November 18, 1923, in Chelsea.
Hazel spent her childhood years in Chelsea, graduating from Chelsea High School in 1943. On July 23, 1944, she married Lloyd Allen Batton in Alliance, Nebraska, where he was stationed in the Air Corp. After his discharge, the couple returned to Chelsea, where they lived until moving to Miami in 1950. Lloyd preceded Hazel in death on January 28, 1988.
Hazel was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with family and collecting coins. Her favorite activty was going to her lake home to fish. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Miami and the Bellettes, which was a women's auxiliary group for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; sister, Erma Lea Littleton of Chelsea; and her brother, Everette Reavis of Savannah.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda June Batton of Miami; her brother-in-law, Fred Littleton of Chelsea; her sister-in-law, Dortha Reavis; niece, Patsy Schmidt; and nephew Doug (Randi) Reavis, all of Savannah, MO.
